Elon Musk Sparks Social Media Buzz With Comments on Jesus and Faith
Elon Musk’s recent remark about Jesus Christ has set social media alight, fueling speculation and debate about the billionaire’s evolving views on spirituality.
Last week, when asked who would “evangelize Elon Musk,” he simply replied, “I agree with the teachings of Jesus.” The comment quickly went viral, with reactions on X split between curiosity, admiration, and skepticism.
Some users interpreted the statement as a hint at a future announcement or personal revelation. One wrote, “Something really, really big is about to come out about him.” Others defended Musk, pointing out that appreciating the ethical teachings of Jesus doesn’t imply wrongdoing. “Every time someone values compassion and truth, cynics assume there’s a scandal,” one user commented.
A Long, Evolving Faith Journey
Musk’s spiritual path has been complex. He has admitted losing his religious belief around age 14, questioning life, the universe, and purpose. At times labeled an atheist or agnostic, Musk later described feeling lost and uncertain in his teenage years.
Over time, however, he has revisited the moral teachings of Christianity. In 2022, he posted on X:
“Jesus taught love, kindness, and forgiveness. I used to think that turning the other cheek was weak and foolish, but I was the fool for not appreciating its profound wisdom.”
During a podcast that December, Musk said he believes in the existence of God:
“I believe this universe came from something. People have different labels [for God].”
His mother, Maye Musk, also reflected on the family’s religious background, sharing that her children were christened in the Methodist Church and raised with lessons of love and kindness.
